Rangitikei Helicopters set up a satellite base in the Upper Rakaia in 2019. Rangitikei Helicopters is a long-standing business in the Rangitikei/Manawatu region, owned by Simon & Rachael Werthmuller. Simon has flown in the Manawatu-Rangitikei area since 1991, establishing Rangitikei Helicopters in 1998. From its inception, Rangitikei Helicopters was solely an agricultural-based company operating one helicopter from its Rewa base. From 2002, Rangitikei Helicopters diversified its operation into commercial air transport work with its CAA 135 certificate. This diversification saw Rangitikei Helicopters taking on a wide range of contracts and work for Department of Conservation, Regional Councils, Vector Gas, electrical companies, Search & Rescue, Rural Fire and local hunters and lodges.
Rakaia Helicopters operates an MD-520 Notar from its base in the Upper Rakaia, offering a wide range of commercial services. Over the years we have enjoyed developing equipment and techniques to service our clients to successfully complete contracts. Our company’s ability to think outside the square and ingenuity with developing new equipment has seen us secure and complete major contracts in the Lower North Island and Canterbury region.
